uggaha

UggahaMeṇḍakanattā

The grandson of the banker Meṇḍaka; he lived in Bhaddiya. Once when the Buddha was staying in the Jātiyāvana at Bhaddiya, Uggaha invited him and three monks to a meal at his house. At the conclusion of the meal, he asked the Buddha to speak a few words of advice to his daughters who were about to be married. The Buddha preached to them the Uggaha Sutta. AN.iii.36ff.
