upacālā

When Upacālā was taking her siesta in Andhavana, Māra tried to arouse in her sensual desires, but she vanquished him and became an arahant. This account is found in both the Therīgāthā and the Saṃyutta, but the sources ascribe different verses to the nuns Cālā, Upacālā, and Sisūpacālā. Thig.189–195 SN.i.133f.
