puñña

Puñña: merit, meritorious, is a popular term for kammically advantageous kusala action. Opposite terms: apuñña = demerit. pāpa = ‘bad’, ‘evil’. The value of meritorious action is often stressed, e.g., in the Treasure Store Sutta see: Khp.
